ब्रह्मेश्वरनाथ मन्दिर, ब्रह्मपुर, बक्सर

श्री ब्रह्मपुर एक पवित्रतम तीर्थ है जो कभी गंगा के पावन तट पर बसा हुआ था । आजकल गंगा की धारा वहाँ से दूर चली गयी है, किन्तु पूर्व में जहाँ गंगा बहती थी वहाँ आज भी देखने से प्रतीत होता है । भारत का प्राचीन इतिहास महर्षि वाल्मीकि कृत श्रीरामायण में शिवक्षेत्र की चर्चा की गयी है । भगवान् श्रीराम एवं लक्ष्मण जब महर्षि विश्वामित्र के साथ श्रीसिद्धाश्रम (बक्सर) को जा रहे थे उस समय सरयू को पार करते वक़्त गंगा में सरयू को विलीन होते हुए देखा था । श्री गंगाजी के पावन तट पर ऋषि मुनियों द्वारा सेवित दिव्य शिवक्षेत्र को देखते हुए भगवान् सिद्धाश्रम को पधारे थे । यह वही स्थल है जहाँ स्वयंभू ब्रह्मेश्वर शिवलिंग का दर्शन हो रहा है । ब्रह्मेश्वर शिव मंदिर का गर्भगृह इतना बड़ा है कि बहुत कम जगहों पे इतना बड़ा गर्भगृह दृष्टिगोचर होता है । गर्भगृह पश्चिमाभिमुख है । मंदिर में प्रवेश करते ही आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा का भान किसी को भी हो सकता है । भगवान् ब्रह्मेश्वर के  नाम पर इस स्थल का नाम ब्रह्मपुर है जो बिहार के बक्सर जनपद के अंतर्गत आता है, जनपद मुख्यालय से ३२ किलोमीटर पूर्व की ओर । यहाँ पर फाल्गुन महाशिवरात्रि को विशालतम पशुमेला लगता है । मंदिर से सटे विशाल सरोवर है । उस स्थान का मुख्य बाजार मन्दिर पर निर्भर करता है ।

Shri brahmpur is the holiest shrine was once situated on the holy banks of the Ganges. Nowadays the Ganga has gone away from there, but it was still there in the past to see where the Ganga flows appears. Maharshi Valmiki has written about Shivkshetra in Shri Ramayana, the ancient history of India. Lord Rama and Lakshmana with sage Valmiki were going to Shri Siddhashram(Buxar) saw river Saryu merging in Ganga while crossing the Saryu river. On the holy bank of Ganga they saw the divine Shivkshetra worshipped by rishi munis and went to Siddhashram. This is the place where Shivling of lord Brahmeshwarnath can be seen. Sanctum (Garbhgrih) of shri Brahmeshwar temple is so large that is rarely found in other temples. Sanctum of temple is west faced. Anyone can feel the spiritual energy once entered the temple. This place is called Brahmpur on the name of Lord Brahmeshwara situated in Buxar district of Bihar, 32km east of district headquarters. One of the largest cattle mela organized here on Falgun Mahashivratri. Adjacent to the temple there is a large lake. The main market of this place depends on the temple.
